Kheng Minority Bamboo Craft & Radu Textile Workshop
About this experience
"The Kheng people of Zhemgang maintain bamboo craft and textile traditions distinct from highland Bhutanese artisanship, shaped by access to subtropical forest resources of the Mangde Chhu corridor. A community-hosted workshop visits a Kheng family compound to observe the weaving of radu — coarsely woven ceremonial scarves used at Kheng ritual events — and the construction of traditional bamboo storage baskets, conical rain hats, and fish traps using culms cut from the surrounding community forest."
